MONCTON, N.B. — Police in Moncton, N.B., are investigating after a man was struck and killed by a passenger train.

The 27-year-old was hit by a Via Rail train around 5 p.m. Thursday on tracks located between Elmwood Drive and Mill Road.

The train was travelling from Halifax to Montreal.

There’s no word on why the man was in the area.

The victim’s name has not been released.
